Philip Herman Britten passed away at his home in Chandler, AZ on October 16, 2019 at the age of 84. Philip was born on November 24, 1934
to Herman and Winifred (Clarahan) Britten of rural Creston. He graduated from Nevinville School. While in the Army, stationed in France, he married Yvette Charriere on March 9, 1957 in Hourtin, France. Upon returning to farming north of Creston, Philip and Yvette had two children: Linda and Stephen. After Yvette’s death on October 22, 1963 due to a brain tumor, Philip married Kathleen McCabe on February 27, 1965 in New York City, New York. Philip and Kathleen had three sons: Brian, Kevin and Daniel.
Following cremation, a graveside service is planned for 3 PM Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Calvary Cemetery in Creston, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, to be determined. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Winifred Britten; his wife Yvette Britten; 2nd wife, Kathleen Britten; and his sister, Annette (Britten) Geis.
He is survived by his children: Linda Britten Abbott Hunecke (husband Larry) of Jefferson, Iowa; Stephen (wife Alda) Britten of Palmview, Texas; Brian (wife Laura) Britten, Creston; Kevin (wife Angie) Britten of Red Oak, Iowa; Dan (wife Tina) Britten of Orient, Iowa; his
brother-in-law, John Geis of Mountain Home, AR; five nieces and nephews, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
