R. D. Killmon

October 1, 1926 — February 13, 2006

R. D. Killmon was born to Mabel Beatrice (Fisher) and Walter Scott Killmon on October 1, 1926, at Pacific Junction, Iowa. R. D. entered eternal rest on February 13, 2006, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of seventy-nine years, four months, and fifteen days.
R. D. was born and raised in Pacific Junction, Iowa. He moved to Creston when he was 15 years old. R.D. went to work for CB Q Railroad as a section hand at age 17. He became a brakeman in 1959 and continued as a brakeman until his retirement in 1988. R. D. worked for the Railroad for 44 years.
On January 5, 1945, he married Vivian Loree Clark in Glenwood, Iowa. They recently celebrated sixty-one years of marriage.
RD was a Member of the Elks Lodge in Creston; Retired Railroad Veterans Organization; Member of St. Johns United Church of Christ; Served as a board member for several years at the church: Member of the United Transportation Union of the Railroad.
Left to mourn R. D.s passing are his wife: Vivian Killmon, Creston; his Son: Richard A. (Sharon) Killmon, Afton; Daughter: Linda Wilson, Creston; Sisters: Donna (Don) Petrie, Moline, IL; Lois Bradley, Council Bluffs, IA; Betty Gladwin, Ft. Collins, CO; Brother-In-Law: Donald Fuson, Des Moines, IA: Five Grandchildren: Shannon (Nick) Welch, Arispe; Angee (Tony) Hartsook, Des Moines; Andrea Killmon, Afton; Jodee Goodin, Des Moines; Kellee Wilson, Creston; Two Great Grandsons: Hunter Hartsook and Kiefer Welch; and One Great-Granddaughter: Jordan Welch.
Preceding R. D. in death were his Parents; Daughter: Patricia Ann Killmon; Son-in-Law: Steve Wilson; One Brother: Ned Killmon; Sister: Mert Fuson; and Great-Grandchild: Kristen Hope Welch.
