Raymond A. Marsh

Raymond Arthur Marsh, Sr., the son of Arthur Cecil and Mary Velma (Perry) Marsh, was born July 29, 1917 near Mt. Etna, Iowa in Adams County. Raymond entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston, Iowa at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 20 days.
Raymond grew up on a farm in Adams County and attended Country School. As a young man, Raymond helped on the farm. Later, he began driving a truck for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company for about 10 years. He worked for Center Milk in Creston driving a milk route. Raymond also worked for Skelly Oil Company and drove a tank wagon delivering fuel to the farmers. Raymond was a custodian at Jefferson School in Creston from 1962 - 1981 and mowed the Calvary Cemetery for nearly 30 years. Raymond also owned a cleaning business for 25 years.
On November 1, 1946, Raymond married Dorothy Pauline Ingraham in Missouri and one son was born to this union. Dorothy preceded Raymond in death in December 1988. He married Elsie Sanson in 1993 and she preceded Raymond in death in January 2000.
Raymond was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the IOOF Lodge for many years. Raymond bowled in several leagues as long as his health permitted.
Left to cherish Raymonds memory is his son, Ray (Joy) Marsh, Jr. of Hastings, Nebraska; two grandchildren: Dan Marsh and Katie Marsh. Raymond is also survived by his brother, Ralph Marsh of Grants Pass, Oregon; two nieces and one nephew.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; two sons: Howard and Phillip Marsh and by an infant grandson.
