Raymond Charles Wilson, 64, of rural Creston died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at his home near Creston. Mass of Christian Burial Services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 13, 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Creston. Father Joseph Pins will officiate. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors by Theodore J. Martens VFW Post #1797. Open Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, July 12, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening and a Wake Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Donor Network. On-line condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.
Raymond Charles Wilson, the son of Ray Everett and Virginia Maxine (Emhoff) Wilson, was born on September 26, 1947, in Creston, Iowa. Raymond lived in the Creston area his whole life. He graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1965 and attended Iowa State University. On July 6, 1968, Raymond married Suzanne Frances Darnall at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Creston. Raymond joined the United States Army Reserves on August 26, 1968 and served until July 14, 1974.
Raymond was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Cattleman Association, Pork Producers, and the Cromwell Men’s Lenten Breakfast Group. He was a Township Trustee and helped with 4-H and FFA. Raymond loved spending time with his grandkids. His passion was farming, taking care of his cattle, and going to fairs. He also loved traveling, vacations, antiquing and story-telling. Raymond didn’t know a stranger.
Left to cherish Raymond’s memory are his wife: Suzanne Wilson, Creston; his son: Christopher (Carolyn) Wilson, Anita; his daughter: Erin (Steve) Wilson-Murty, Gladbrook, IA; his eight grandchildren: Joseph Douglas Schroder, David Schroder, Luke Schroder, Kaden Wilson, Conner Murty, Layne Raymond Murty, Rhianna Murty, and Skyler Murty; his brother: James Wilson (and Ginny), Creston; and several cousins.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.
