Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Creston.
Raymond Archie Thompson, the son of Maurice Edward and Clara Myrna (Siddens) Thompson, was born in Dodge Township, Union County, Iowa, on May 24, 1918. Raymond entered eternal rest on February 24, 2007, at the Corning Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of eighty-eight years, nine months, and three days.
On December 8, 1940, Raymond married Clara E. Thompson at Maryville, Missouri. Raymond lived on a farm southeast of Kent until 1975, and then he moved to Creston. After he retired he loved making homemade noodles. He also enjoyed wood working, playing cards, and shooting pool. Most of all, Raymond loved fishing and would go every day if possible.
Raymond is survived by one sister: Dorotha Memmer of Mequon, Wisconsin; three sisters-in-law: Maxine Thompson of Bellevue, Nebraska; Jesse Thompson of Creston, Iowa, and Dorothy Thompson of Mesa, Arizona. Raymond is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his caretaker, Dianne Hansen of Corning. Raymonds family wishes to express their gratitude to the Hansen family for the excellent care that he has received over the last five years.
Preceding Raymond in death were his parents; his wife Clara on April 15, 2000; an infant daughter: Catherine Marie; four brothers: Marion Thompson, Clarence Thompson, Paul Thompson, and Carl Thompson; and two sisters: Nellie Hainline and Cleora Reeves.
