Regena May Christensen, the daughter of Frank Alen and Catherine (Wilson) Francis, was born on May 20, 1919 on the Francis Family Farm south of Kent, Iowa. Regena entered eternal rest on December 30, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of ninety years, seven months and twelve days.
Regena graduated from Creston High School with the class of 1939. On June 12, 1940, she married Harold William Christensen at Creston. Harold passed away in April, 1990.
Regena was a homemaker and farm wife. Regena lived in the Creston area most of her life. During her teenage years she spent time in Colorado and Texas. She lived on the farm from 1949-1970, and then moved to Creston. She moved to Crestridge about three years ago.
Regena was an active member of the Kent United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Later she became an active member of the United Methodist Church in Creston. Regena joined the Cromwell Congregational Church in Cromwell about 1990 and held offices in the Womens Fellowship and was an active quilter. In addition, she volunteered at the Snack Shop at the hospital for several years until it closed; she was active in the Order of Eastern Star for many years and served as a Past Worthy Matron; she was a member of Cozy Kampers and has traveled extensively having visited all fifty states, including Alaska and Hawaii; and she loved to play cards and was a member of several card clubs. Regena enjoyed playing board games; and loved gardening and fishing.
Left to cherish Regenas memory are her Daughter: Frances (husband Phil) Hudson, Creston; Three Grandchildren: Mike (wife Barb) Hudson, Kent; Chris (wife Diane) Hudson, Kent; and Ann (husband Jason) Davis, Creston; Eight Great-Grandchildren: Jennifer (husband Ryan) Hoyt; Matthew (wife Cassie) Hudson; Thomas Hudson; Taylor, Brant, MaKenna Hudson; and Paige and Payton Davis; One Great-Great Grandson: Samuel Matthew Hudson; and many nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren knew her as “Grandma Genie” and her nieces and nephews knew her as “Aunt Genie”.
Preceding Regena in death were her Parents; her Husband in 1990; her Daughter: Patricia Jane Christensen; her Grandson: Kelly Lynn Hudson; and her Mother-in-law and Father-in-law: Sophie and Chris Christensen.
