Richard D. Walter

May 10, 1939 — May 16, 2006

Richard Dean Walter, son of Fred and Rose Duben Walter, was born May 10, 1939 in Creston, Iowa. Richard entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital, Corning, Iowa at the age of sixty-seven years and seven days.
Richard was raised a farm boy. He loved driving the Ford tractor and helping his dad and brother prepare the fields for crops and rake the hay. He especially enjoyed his years in 4-H and County Fair time. He received an eighth grade education and continued with his schooling as an adult.
Later, Richard and his folks moved into Prescott, Iowa. One could always find Richard and Fred in an intense card game, or checkers, or him keeping a watchful eye over Rose when she was working outside.
After his parents death he became a resident at Taylor Ridge Estates in Lenox, Iowa. He loved being involved in their daily activities, especially dancing and dressing up in costumes.
Richard always had a smile on his face and never forgot anything. He was a very devoted brother and uncle. He never once thought of himself, but always showed concern for others. Richard kept track of all his family members and remembered them with cards. He never let his handicap prevent him from things he loved doing. He was an inspiration to all. “This man made a difference”!
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Rose, grandparents: Charles and Emma Walter, Charles and Anna Duben; two nieces: Jodi Walter and Janice Kay Hunter; a sister-in-law: Sharen Walter; and great nephew: Ethan Tucker.
He is survived by sisters: Carol Hunter and husband Sewell of Lima, Ohio; Connie Sheets and husband Tim of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lometa Spring and husband Reldon of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers: Ron Walter and wife Sharon of Prescott, Iowa; Eldon Walter and wife Cindy of Kansas City, Missouri; Aunts: Virlee Walter of Prescott and June Johnson of Clarinda, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and family at Taylor Ridge Estates.
