Richard Vicker

November 22, 1925 — November 19, 2010

Richard Joseph Vicker, the son of Joseph Earl and Edna Louise (Mudra) Vicker, was born on November 22, 1925, at Prescott, Iowa. Richard entered eternal rest on November 19, 2010, at the Greater Regional Hospice Home, Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-four years, eleven months, and twenty-eight days.
Richard lived most of his life in Union County on the farm north of Creston. Richard graduated from Nevinville High School. On March 9, 1946, he married Dorothy Isabelle Nissen at the Cromwell United Church of Christ.
Richard was a farmer and farmed all of his life. He and Isabelle loved to travel and traveled all across the United States. They especially loved Estes Park, Colorado. Richard was very proud of his ponies and loved to show them during the fair, or anywhere he could. He was inducted into the Iowa Draft Pony Hitch Association Hall of Fame which is presented annually at the Iowa State Fair.
Left to cherish Richards memory are his three sons: Ron (wife Wanda) Vicker, Adel, Iowa; Rod (wife Lynn) Vicker, Nevada, Iowa; and Roger Vicker, Creston; his five grandchildren: Melissa (husband Jerrod) Robinson; Ronda Vicker and fiancé, Damon Herzog; Rob (wife Amie) Vicker; Rich (wife Kristine) Vicker; and Lisa (husband Cody) Eigenheer; his ten great-grandchildren; his brother: Robert (wife Vicki) Vicker, Nevinville, IA; his sister: Dorothy Probst, Fontanelle, IA; his sister-in-law: JoAnn Vicker, Creston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Preceding Richard in death were his parents; his wife, Dorothy Isabelle in 2006; his brother: Ralph Vicker; and his informally adopted daughter: Linda Kelley.
Memorials may be directed to Greater Regional Hospice Home.
