Robert Bob Kiley

October 12, 1929 — September 22, 2017

Robert Elmer Kiley, the son of Lee Elmer and Geneva Mae (Schnebly) Kiley, was born October 12, 1929, in Kanawha, IA. Bob entered eternal rest on September 22, 2017 at the Greater Regional Hospice House, Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-seven years, eleven months and ten days.
Bob was raised in Hancock County and attended country school. He joined the United States Navy in 1947 working with the Seabees (Naval Construction Battalion) in Guam. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, Bob married Shirlee Sammons on July 27, 1951 in San Diego, CA. To this union a daughter, Beckie, was born. They later divorced.
After returning from the Navy he lived in Des Moines, IA. and worked for Firestone from 1951-1954. Bob purchased his farm in Union County in 1954 and began farming. He worked various jobs to support his family, grinding feed, Wellman Dynamics and driving a school bus, which he loved.
Bob married Judy Watson on June 22, 1972 in Corydon, IA. One son, C. T. Kiley was born to this union. Bob enjoyed everyday farm life with Judy at his side. He encouraged C. T. at an early age to share his love of farming. Bob enjoyed building fences and caring for livestock. Bob was a member of the American Legion and the VFW; a Township Trustee in Douglas Township; and a member of the Cromwell Congregational Church. He liked playing cards, and shooting pool. He pulled ponies at the County and State Fairs for several years. Bob really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judy Kiley, of Creston and two children: Beckie Jolene (Charlie) Jackson of Creston, IA and C.T. (Erin) Kiley of Diagonal, IA. In addition, he is survived by four grandchildren: Melissa Jackson (significant other, Scott Painter) of Creston, IA; Nicholas (Kristine) Jackson of Des Moines; and Hunter Kiley and Hannah Kiley, both of Diagonal; five great grandchildren: Joel, Trevor, Morgan, Sebastian and Killian; brother, Russell (Lenora) Kiley, Algona, IA; sister, Betty Foreman of Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Susie Kiley, Manhattan, KS and Rose Kiley, Wesley, IA; niece, Lisa Creighton, Creston, IA; nephew, Dan Creighton, Grimes, IA; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry and Charles Kiley; brother-in-law, Donald Foreman; mother-in-law, Viola Mae Watson; and father-in-law, James Watson.
