Robert L. Beach

Robert L. “Sarge” Beach, Jr., 82, of Lenox died Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston, Iowa. No local services are planned. Interment will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date. Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston is assisting with the arrangements. Robert Leroy Beach, Jr., the son of Robert Leroy and Avis Clemence Beach was born on July 3, 1931 in Springfield, MA. Robert was married for 41 years to Zada Y’ola Taylor, from 1953 until her death on June 8, 1994. Robert married Mariellen Gardner on June 3, 1995. Mariellen passed away on November 14, 2007. Robert has lived in Ft. Worth, Granbury, and Decatur Texas before moving to Lenox in 2002.
Robert served in the United States Air Force for 22 years during both the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts and retired in 1971. After his discharge from the Air Force, Robert worked for a local telephone company in Texas retiring in 1993 after twenty years.
Robert was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and the American Legion Parkinson Post #250 in Lenox.
Left to cherish Robert’s memory are his sister, Shirley Siep of Massachusetts and her three children; four step-daughters: Nancy West (and partner, Pete Davidson), Lenox; Dona (Dennis) Jenkins, Knoxville, IA; Connie (Mel) Huyser, Elwood, NE; and Carolyn (Jim) Barnes, Boise, ID; one step-son: Mark (Sandi) Reyner, Lenox; Ten step-grandchildren; Eight step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, Suzie and Sally Taylor, Fresno, CA.
Preceding Robert in death were his parents; his first wife, Zada; and his second wife, Mariellen.
