Robert Roland

Robert “Bob” Eric Roland, the son of Robert Ricedorf and Loreen Sabrina (Carlson) Roland, was born on August 5, 1954 in Creston, Iowa. Bob entered eternal rest on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Greater Regional Medical Center, Creston, Iowa at the age of fifty-eight years, ten months, and twenty-six days.
Bob graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1973. On June 11, 1973, he joined the United States Army. Bob served during the Vietnam War Era, both stateside and in Germany. He was honorably discharged on June 3, 1976, and received a National Defense Service Medal. On September 4, 1998, Bob married Elizabeth “Libby” Sheryl Davis at Rainbow Park in Creston.
Bob lived most of his life in Creston. He lived in Washington State for a few years from 2002 until January 2008. Bob attended college for electrical training for one year. He worked for Wellman Dynamics for twenty-two years working as a molder most of those years. Bob also worked in the Heat Treat Department at Wellman Dynamics for several years. While Bob lived in Vancouver, Washington, he worked as a Sanitation Engineer for Gustof Restaurant.
Bob was a member of the GMP Union; the American Legion in Creston; and SCADS of Creston.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Sheryl Roland, Creston; his children: Bobbie Sue (Cory) Preston, Winterset, IA; John David Foster, Creston; and Sally Jean (Billy) Blish, Urbandale; his four grandchildren: Travis Allen Ray Floyd; Jaden Elizabeth Pederson; Levi Dalton Foster; and Vincent Santino Blish; his brother: Ralph (Karalee) Roland, Vancouver, WA; his sisters: Bonnie (William) Cornick, Creston; Annell Roland, Afton; Beth (Dennis) Christensen, Creston, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Preceding Bob in death were his Parents; his sister and brother-in-law: Peggy and Dale O’Neill; Cousin, Tricia Minner; and nephew, Michael Jackson.
