Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Creston Animal Rescue Effort.
Rodney Charles Williamson, the son of John Charles and Virginia Jean (Welcher) Williamson, was born on January 13, 1951, in Creston, Iowa. Rod entered eternal rest on March 16, 2010, at his home in Kent, Iowa, at the age of fifty-nine years, two months, and three days.
Rod lived in Creston most of his life. He graduated from high school and attended Southeastern Community College in eastern Iowa for two years. Rod married Kathy Claiser in 1988 and they later divorced in 1997. Rod worked as a laborer and handyman. He repaired and painted auto bodies and detailed vehicles.
Rod loved animals and cared for many stray cats and dogs. He loved to play his guitar and was always there to help whenever his family needed him. Rod was a big fan of stock car racing and followed his nephew, Matt, who races at the Adams County Speedway.
Left to cherish Rods memory are his mother, Virginia Williamson, Creston; his sisters: Sharon (Clarence) Keller, Creston; Dianne Trenkle, Creston; Sandy Casteel, New Market; Joyce Williamson, Minnesota; Gloria Williamson, Creston; Peggy (Joe) Wilson, Corning; and Penny Williamson, Creston; his brothers: Doug (Sharon) Williamson, Creston; Don (Teresa) Williamson, Creston; and Johnny Williamson, Creston; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Rod in death were his father in March, 1983; his niece, Michelle Casteel in 2006; his grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, two great-nephews and one great-niece.
