Rosalie Mary Hamilton

Rosalie “Rose” Mary Hamilton was born May 23, 1936 to Roth and Ruth (Cole) Nevill. Rosalie entered her eternal home, January 22, 2016, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston, Iowa due to complications of Alzheimer’s at the age of seventy-nine years, seven months, and thirty days. She grew up in Clearfield with her parents and two older sisters, Eula Jean and Verla Dean. She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1954. Rose met James Hamilton and they were united in marriage on April 19, 1956. Joni, Lori, Christi, and Steven were born to this union.
Rosalie began working for Martin Brothers Garage when she first came to Creston when Jim left for the Army in 1956. She later went to work at Gits Bros. Mfg. She worked at Gits for several years and was a charter member of United Automobile, Agricultural and Implement Workers of America (UAW) Local 1946. Rose attended a career enhancement course in Office Machines at SWCC in 1972 during a slowdown at Gits. She worked for BFCT for several years until their closing. Rose then returned to Gits and continued her employment for many years until her retirement.
Rose attended St. Johns United Church of Christ in Creston where she was involved in the St. Johns Women’s Fellowship Group. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and doing macramé. Rose also loved to bake and enjoyed bowling. She found her greatest joy when she was around her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Rose is survived by three children. Lori (John) Hays, Christi (Dr. Richard) Byerly, and Steven (Candice) Hamilton all of Creston. She is survived by six grandchildren. Miranda Hays and Samantha Hays, Jason and Joshua Merboth all of Creston and Dustin (Amanda) and Kassondra Hamilton of Monona, Iowa. She leaves behind Alissa Hays who is her only great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Verla Dean Main of Amarillo, Texas, brother-in-law Ed (Delonna) Hamilton of Creston and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Joni, sister Eula Jean, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, two nephews, cousins and friends.
