Rowena Huff

Rowena Marjorie Huff, only daughter of Dallas Stanley and Clara Faye (Goodvin) Russell was born, on the family farm, six miles northeast of Corning, Iowa on Wednesday, August 17, 1921. Rowena entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Lenox Care Center in Lenox, Iowa at the age of eighty-seven years, eight months and nine days.
Rowena attended Pell Country School without being absent or tardy for seven years. During her eighth year Rowena broke her leg playing football. Rowena graduated from Corning High School in 1940 with a Teachers Certificate. She taught school for five years, following high school, in Adams County, Lyon County and in South Dakota.
While living and teaching in Canton, South Dakota, Rowena met Stanley LaMont Huff. They were united in marriage on February 23, 1944 in Canton. The couple moved to a farm owned by her Uncle, Harry Goodvin. Rowena taught school near the farm for 3 months. Later, the couple moved to a farm a half mile from where she was born and raised. Rowena started selling Stanley Home Products in 1957. In 1982, Rowena was awarded a watch for twenty-five years of service. She continued selling Stanley for forty-eight years.
Stanley and Rowena were blessed with four daughters: Sharon, Karon, Sandra and Jacque.
Rowena was a long-time member of the Corning United Methodist Church; active with the Methodist Quilters and the United Methodist Women. Rowena loved to play bingo. Some of her hobbies included gardening and sewing. She was an avid reader, loved bird watching and enjoyed her farm animals, especially her dogs.
Left to cherish Rowenas memory are her daughters: Sharon Williams (special friend, Robert Harrison) of Diamond City, Arkansas, Karon Mielke of Sparta, Wisconsin, Sandra (husband Don) Brandon of Bloomfield, Iowa, Jacque (husband Ron) Fisher of Corning, Iowa; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Earl (wife Pat) Russell of Millington, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Darlene Richie of Everett, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Rowena in death were her parents; husband, Stanley in 1991; brothers: Leo, Roy and Glen Russell; sisters-in-law: Berniece Russell and Shirley Russell.
