Ruth Ann Reed, the daughter of Philip Bernard and Harriett Faye (Sumner) James, was born on July 10, 1926, in Murray, Iowa. Ruth entered eternal rest on August 7, 2007, at Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-one years and twenty-eight days.
Ruth attended school at Murray and graduated from Murray High School with the Class of 1943. On April 11, 1947, Ruth married Tharon Danniel Reed at Osceola, Iowa. Six children were born to bless this union.
Ruth and Danniel lived in Creston since the early 1950s. She stayed home and raised their six children before returning to school to earn her bachelors degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1973. Ruth taught 7th grade English at Burton R. Jones Middle School for ten years. Ruth quit teaching due to declining health in 1985.
Ruth was a long-time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. She was a member of T.O.P.S. and organized delivery of Meals on Wheels for several years. Ruth also participated in the bridge club at the congregate meal site.
Left to mourn Ruths passing are her children: Robert D. Reed, Creston; Rebecca (Bill) Reed, Lees Summitt, MO; Tharon Richard Reed (Fiance Patty Libby), Creston; Lucy J. (Bob) Kendrick, Creston; Juanita L. (Jim) McClatchey, Muscatine, IA; Gayle Yvonne Tucker, Des Moines; Ten Grandchildren; Five Great-Grandchildren; Ten Step-Grandchildren; her brother: Richard (Judy) James, Winterset; her sisters: Betty Sevier, Creston; Marie Jones, Grand River, IA; Maggie (Bob) Darr, Hartford, IA; and her Sisters-in-Law: June James, Minnesota; Avis James, Osceola; and Judy James of Winterset.
