Sally A. Vicker, 59, of Creston, died Friday, April 20, 2012, at Crest Haven Care Centre, Creston, Iowa. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 24, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Mary O’Riley will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Adams County, at a later date. Open Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Monday, April 23 and also from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Tuesday. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Greater Regional Hospice Home and/or Creston American Legion Auxiliary. On-line condolences may be left a www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.
Sally Ann Vicker, the daughter of Arthur and Mary Lillian (Duben) Vicker, was born on March 20, 1953, in Creston, Iowa. Sally lived her entire life in Creston, except for living six months in Des Moines and six months in Red Oak. She graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1971 and recently attended her forty year class reunion.
Sally worked at the “Vick’s Lunch” Café, which was owned by her parents. After that she also worked for McDonalds, American Legion, and began work at Walmart, initially working at all three places at the same time. Sally began working as a cashier in the original Walmart Store and worked at Walmart for more than twenty-two years. She worked in various departments including the Snack Bar and the Bakery. Later, Sally worked in the Express Lane in the new Super Walmart. She enjoyed her time at Walmart and her relationships with her co-workers.
Sally was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing and she also enjoyed the company of her friends and family.
Left to cherish Sally’s memory are her sisters: Eilene (Jerry) Mikkelsen, Creston, and Shirley (Larry) Woods, Lenox; her brother: Tom (Ruta) Vicker, Naples, Florida; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Preceding Sally in death were her parents; and her brother, Kenneth Vicker, in 1967.
