Saundra Sue Lamgo

July 14, 1942 — January 30, 2019

Saundra Sue Lamgo, the daughter of Willis Leroy and Noreen Rose (Kaufman) Scovell, was born July 14, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas. Saundra entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Corning Specialty Care, Corning, Iowa at the age of seventy-six years.
Saundra graduated from East High School, Des Moines, Iowa with the Class of 1960. She also was a graduate of the Omaha Baptist Bible College and the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Right out of college she began teaching at a country school in Nebraska. She then taught at the Silver State Baptist School for over 20 years. Saundra then started the American Christian Academy where she taught for the next ten years, and finally she operated Young Patriot’s Academy from her home until her retirement.
Saundra was united in marriage to Jerre Lamgo on July 4, 1992 in Lakewood, Colorado. Saundra was a member of the Arvada Baptist Church in Arvada, Colorado and was actively involved in church activities including: teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. On her vacations she enjoyed going on mission trips to Thailand, Belize, Sioux Reservations, and Hong Kong, where she taught missionary children and other kids. Saundra enjoyed books, history (especially Early American History), and going to the mountains. Saundra also enjoyed putting on her annual children’s program. Saundra and Jerre moved to Corning, Iowa in October, 2017.
Left to cherish Saundra’s memory are her two sisters: Kay (Robert) Mendenhall, Littleton, Colorado; Ruth (Steven) Havenner, Lakewood, Colorado; brother: Philip (Sandra) Scovell, Denver, Colorado; step-children: Michelle Shattuck, Lakewood, Colorado; Byron (Cynthia) Lamgo, Golden, Colorado; Philip (Sandy) Lamgo, Venice, Texas; Dan (Kim) Lamgo, Corning, Iowa; 17 step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Saundra in death were her parents: Willis and Noreen; husband: Jerre; step-grandson: William Lamgo; step-son-in-law: Jonathan Shattuck.
