Stanley Frederick

Stanley Edward Frederick, the only son of Frank Calkins and Lois Wilma (Wild) Frederick, was born in Corning, IA on February 18, 1933. Stanley passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the Corning Nursing Rehab Center at the age of 81 years, two months and 23 days.
Stanley grew up in the Carbon, IA area and attended school there thru the 8th grade and attended high school in Corning, completing the 11th grade. On April 5, 1951, “Tiger” enlisted in the United States Navy in Des Moines, IA. He was stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland and received his Honorable Discharge on March 24, 1955 in Florida. Tiger returned to Adams County and began farming with his father.
On January 29, 1956, Stanley married Ernestine Lawrence in Corning and the couple was blessed with two children: Frank and Lynne, the couple later divorced. Tiger later married Glenda Ruth Sturdevant on October 21, 1966 in Omaha, NE and two more children were born: Kirk and Doug.
Besides farming, Tiger also worked as a Bookkeeper for Morgan Implement and for Dallas Walters at the Ready Mix Concrete Plant. He partnered with Melvin McKay and together they operated the Red Bull for several years. As part of his farming operation, Tiger raised Charolais Cattle and produced both, Corn and Soy Beans. Stanley was a life-long resident of Adams County and long-time member of Ourcq Post #117, Corning American Legion.
Left to cherish Tiger’s memory is his wife of 47 years, Glenda Ruth Frederick, Corning, IA; his four children: Frank (Beth) Frederick, Waverly, IA, Lynne (Alvin) Inman, Prescott, IA, Kirk Frederick of Corning, IA and Doug Frederick, Brighton, MI; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Tiger is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Gaskill of Glenwood, IA; a nephew, two nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ernestine and his brother-in-law, Francis Gaskill.
