Stanley L. Brokaw

Stanley Lee Brokaw, the son of Leland Stanford and Lucille Grace (Kempton) Brokaw was born October 16, 1930 in Mercer Township, Adams County, Iowa. Stan entered eternal rest on Sunday October 16, 2005 at the age of seventy-five years.
Stan graduated from Corning High School with the class of 1948 and then attended one year at Simpson College. On September 10, 1950 he married Phyllis Lee Driskill at the Methodist Church in Corning, Iowa. He was a farmer in Mercer Township and was a Ford-Mercury Dealer in Corning for 23 years.
Stan was an active member and served as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. He was a long-time member of the Corning Rotary Club and recipient of the Distinguished Paul Harris Award, former active member of the Corning Gun Club and served 25 years with Adams County Conservation Board during the building of Lake Icaria; former President of the Chamber of Commerce; former officer of the Quarterback Club; member of the National Cyclone Club; Charter member of the N.F.O.; the proud owner of the Brokaw Family Century Farm of 135 years; and a member of the Happy Hollow Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rowena Hurd; sister-in-law, Madeline Driskill; brother-in-law, Dale Hurd; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dean and Ruth Driskill.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis Brokaw, Corning, Iowa; sons, Randall Lee “Chet” Brokaw, Pierre, South Dakota; David Dean Brokaw, Corning, Iowa (significant other, Melody Wiley, Creston, Iowa); Daughter, Lynn Denise (Rick) Hickman, Melbourne, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, Leland N. Brokaw, Rebecca Lynn (Joe) Dunham, Teresa Mary (Tim) Rummer; Leah Mae Brokaw; David Dean Brokaw II; Michael Wm. Brokaw; Brian Leland Hickman, Trevor Brokaw Hickman, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
