Stephan “Steve” Blakely, 71 of Creston, Iowa passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 22, 2020 at the EveryStep Hospice House in Creston. No public services are planned.
Stephan Carl Blakely, the son of James Robert and Jean Alice (Hansen) Blakely was born November 12, 1948 in Creston, Iowa. Stephan was educated in the Creston public schools and enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 20, 1969. Steve served for 11 months during the Vietnam War and due to poor eyesight, was Honorably discharged on January 28, 1970 from Hill Air Force Base in Utah.
Stephan was united in marriage to Cynthia Miriam Kinkade in Creston, Iowa on December 21, 1974. Three children were born to bless this union: Richard, Tasha and James. Stephan would later earn and receive his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and worked for Verizon as an Electrical Engineer for several years. The family resided in Creston and also lived in Keller, Texas for 19 years. Steve and Cynthia returned to Creston in 2018.
Preceding Steve in death was a son, James Blakely in 2014; his parents; and an infant sister, Patty Blakely.
Stephan is survived by his wife, Cynthia Blakely of Creston; his son, Richard (wife Karla) Blakely of Springville, IA, his daughter, Tasha (husband Dustin) Moore of Austin, Texas; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 2 brothers: Joe (wife Cris) Blakely of Lincoln, NE and Mike (wife Suzette) Blakely of Waverly, NE; 2 sisters: Sue (husband Rich) Holste of Creston, IA and Mary Ann (husband Kirk) Larkins of Des Moines, IA; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn.
