Tena Lonowski

November 15, 1920 — September 2, 2014

Clementine “Tena” Lonowski, daughter of Dominic and Mary (Zabawa) Mostek, was born on November 15, 1920, in Loup City, Nebraska. Tena entered eternal rest on September 2, 2014 at Greater Regional Medical Center, Creston, Iowa, at the age of ninety-three years, nine months and eighteen days.
Tena graduated from Loup City High School with the Class of 1937. On May 1, 1944, she married Emil Lonowski at St. Josephats Catholic Church in Loup City, Nebraska.
Prior to being married, Tena taught country school for five years in Sherman County, Nebraska. From 1942-1947 she lived in Los Angeles, California and worked as an office clerk for Dyrochrome Manufacturing and from 1947-1950, she and Emil owned and operated a café and bar in Ravenna, Nebraska. Tena lived in Omaha, Nebraska from 1951-1957 and worked for Herschel Manufacturing as an office clerk. From 1958-1960 Emil and Tena operated Shenandoah Farm Supply. In 1961, Emil and Tena started Creston Farm and Home Supply and Tena worked there until her retirement in 1985. Following retirement, Tena traveled to various places and spent 13 winters in Phoenix, Arizona. She moved to Crest Ridge Estates in September 2003.
Tena was a long-time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and a former member of Lakeshore Golf Country Club in Afton.
Left to cherish Tena’s memory is her brother, Bob Mostek, Creston; her nieces and nephews: Jeff (Kit) Mostek, Creston; Jim (Lori) Mostek, Washington, IA; Bryan Mostek, Creston; Michelle (Rick) Mostek-Carter, Creston; Susan (Dave) Maaske, Oxford, NE; Mike Mostek, Omaha, NE; Angie (Neal) Lisec, Omaha, NE; Linda Hopper, Kansas City, MO; Larry (Marlene) Mostek, St. Paul, NE; Terry (Rosanna) Mostek, Grand Island, NE; Steve (Kim) Mostek, Grand Island, NE; Pam (Ralph) Hammack, Lincoln, NE; Cindy (Todd) Peters, St. Paul, NE; and Lisa (Kim) Jensen, Eagle, NE.
Preceding Tena in death were her parents; her husband on November 20, 1972; her sister-in-law, Jan Mostek in 2011; and her brothers and sisters-in-law: Clarence and Gloria Mostek; and Leonard and Elaine Mostek.
