Thomas Joseph Walsh, 89, of Creston died March 7, 2012 at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial Services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. Father Joseph Pins will officiate. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Creston. Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday evening, March 9, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Rosary will be said at 7:30 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home followed by the Christian Wake Service. Memorials may be directed to St. Malachy School and/or the American Heart Association. Thomas Joseph Walsh, the son of Thomas James and Grace (Keefe) Walsh was born on February 8, 1923, in Creston, Iowa. Thomas graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1942. He also graduated from Creston Community College. Thomas farmed northwest of Creston for nearly 60 years. He retired from farming and moved to Creston in 1978. On November 18, 1978, he married Elizabeth Rita Kelley at Buena Park, California.
Thomas was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the Creston Elks Lodge.
Left to cherish Thomas’ memory is his sister, Mary Margaret (Walsh) Tomek of Bellevue, NE; his sisters-in-law: Beatrice Walsh, Omaha, NE; and Mary Ann Walsh, Creston; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Thomas in death were his parents; his wife Liz in 2010; his two brothers: Paul Walsh, and John “Leo” Walsh; his brothers-in-law: William Tomek; and Joseph Kelley; and his sisters-in-law: Patricia Roberts and Margaret Saub.
