Tim Obrien

Timothy Mark O’Brien, the son of Leo Edwin and Irma Jeanne (Bennett) O’Brien, was born March 19, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa. Tim entered eternal rest on October 22, 2017 at Greater Regional Hospice House, Creston, Iowa, at the age of fifty-seven years, seven months and three days.
Tim and his family moved from Des Moines to Omaha when he was a young boy. He graduated from Westside High School in Omaha, Nebraska, with the Class of 1978. Tim graduated from Milford Community College in 1981 with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Non-Destructive Testing Technology. On July 11, 1981, Tim married Susan Marie O’Shea at St. Mary’s Church in Bellevue, Nebraska.
Tim and Sue moved to Creston after they were married. Beginning in 1981, he was employed by Wellman Dynamics in Creston. Later, he worked at Gits Manufacturing for seventeen years. Tim left Gits to start his own business, O’Brien Trucking, until being diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s.
Tim was a member of Union County Outdoor High Lakes Alliance. He was also a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. He loved to hunt and fish and watch NASCAR Racing. He enjoyed farming with his uncle and cousin in Stuart and playing with his grandchildren.
Left to cherish Tim’s memory is his wife, Sue O’Brien, Creston; his daughters: Shannon (James) Hradsky, Blair, NE; and Sheri O’Brien, Blair, NE; his son Leo (Shayla) O’Brien, Winterset; Two grandchildren: Corbyn Hradsky and Clyde O’Brien; his mother: Irma Jeanne (Ernie) Hopkins, Omaha, NE; his mother-in-law: Estelle O’Shea, Bellevue, NE; his brother: Steve (Lisa) O’Brien, Ottumwa, IA; his sister, Cheryl (Michael) Ozmun, Elkhorn, NE; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Preceding Tim in death were his father, Leo Edwin O’Brien; his father-in-law, Patrick John O’Shea; his nephew, Vincent O’Brien; and his grandparents, Gordon and Violet Bennett; and Clarence and Eva O’Brien.
