Viola M. Fastenau

Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in rural Corning, Iowa.
Viola Marie Fastenau, the daughter of Fred Schroeder and Dena (Blankemier) Schroeder, was born on January 1, 1922, in Belgard, NE. Viola entered eternal rest on March 18, 2008 at the Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning, Iowa at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 18 days.
Viola married Eldo Bernhardt Fastenau on July 20, 1942 in Rockport, MO. Four children were born to this blessed union: Norma; Ron; Don and Jerry.
She was a housewife throughout her life; however, she worked at Cardens Shoe Store for fourteen years and at the Corning Creamery for two years. Viola had a passion for gardening, fishing and sewing.
She was a Charter Member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school, VBS, and Youth Group most of her life. Her memberships also included: Ladies Legion Auxiliary, Redeemer LWML. In addition, Viola also had volunteered with the American Red Cross.
Left to cherish Violas memory are her children: Daughter: Norma (husband James) McCutchan, Creston, Iowa; Sons: Ron (wife Ellen) Fastenau, Minot, North Dakota; Don (wife Patty) Fastenau, Winterset, Iowa; Jerry Fastenau (special friend Stephanie Duval), Corning, Iowa; Brothers: Alden Schroeder, Creston, Iowa; Delbert (wife Judy) Schroeder, Villisca, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, relatives and other friends.
Viola was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother of thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Preceding Viola in death were Parents: Fred and Dena Schroeder; Husband: Eldo Fastenau in 1993; Brothers: Ed Schroeder; Henry Schroeder; Donald Schroeder (infant); Sister; Deloris Jean Herzburg.
