Vivian Schwab, 90, of Creston died Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Creston Nursing Rehab Center, Creston, Iowa. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 8, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. A luncheon will be held at the funeral home following the service. Mary O’Riley will officiate. Interment will be at 1:00 P.M., Monday October 8, at the Greenfield Cemetery. Open Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday, October 7. Family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Meniere’s Disease Research c/o Boystown National Research Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska. Vivian Nadine Schwab, the daughter of Melvin Homer and Lucy Elfeda (Jones) Huffman, was born on September 28, 1922, at Nevinville, Iowa. Vivian grew up on a farm near Nevinville and graduated from Richland Township High School. Vivian married Jesse Earl Schwab on July 3, 1941 at Grant City, Missouri. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm south of Greenfield for several years. They moved to Creston around 1955.
Vivian worked a few years for Gits Manufacturing. After that, Vivian worked for several different physicians as their assistant at the Creston Medical Clinic. Vivian also helped patients with their Social Security and Medicare issues at the Clinic.
Vivian was a member of the XYZ card club in Creston. She was a former member of both the United Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Left to cherish Vivian’s memory are her children: Gail (wife Verline) Schwab, Glenwood, IA; Connie (husband Eldon) Harden, Creston; and Gregg Schwab (and Bev Hoffmann) of New Ulm, MN; Six Grandchildren; Eight Great-Grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Shirlene Huffman, Oklahoma City, OK; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Preceding Vivian in death were her parents; her husband in 2005; three brothers: Tom Huffman, Richard Huffman and infant brother, James Huffman; six sisters: Mary Everling, Martha Semtak, Elva Smith, Carey Fleming, Bernice Kerrigan, and Helen Britten.
