Wilma F. Stewart. 91, of Creston died Thursday, June 28, at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center, Creston, Iowa. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Pastor David Tebbenkamp, First Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be at the Ellston Cemetery, Ellston, Iowa. Open Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M., Monday, July 2. Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. On-line condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.
Wilma Florence Stewart, the daughter of Floyd and Sadie (Lee) Collier, was born on March 10, 1921, in Ellston, Iowa. Wilma grew up in the Ellston area and graduated from Ellston High School. On June 28, 1938, she married Gene Stewart in Mount Ayr. Gene passed away in the 1950’s. Wilma married Marion Travis and they later divorced.
Wilma lived in the Ellston area and has lived in the Creston area for about forty-five years. Wilma was a homemaker and also did multiple jobs outside the home over the years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creston. Wilma was involved in numerous community services and she loved to garden and sew.
Left to cherish Wilma’s memory are her daughters: Rayma (Dan) Ripperger, Afton; and Ramona (Rick) Landers, Lorimor; her son: Robert Stewart, Sheldon, IA; her daughter-in-law: Barbra Stewart, Independence, MO; Eleven grandchildren: Gene (Susan) Stewart, Independence, MO; Barbie (Jason) Marshall, Virginia; Derrick (Joni) Stewart, Slater, IA; Julia (Ken) Tilson, Leavenworth, KS; Tami (Randy) Arnold, Humeston, IA; Alex (Candi) Ripperger, Afton; Rick Jr. Landers, (significant other Tina), New Virginia, IA; Rhonda (Matt) McCall, Winterset, IA; Rebecca (Dean) Scarlett, Perry, IA; Robin (Troy) Miller, Murray, IA; and Rosa Landers (significant other Jimmy), Des Moines, IA; Twenty-eight great-grandchildren; Nine great-great grandchildren; her brother: Gene (Mary) Collier, Simi Valley, CA; her sister: Betty Hudson, Creston; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding Wilma in death were her parents; her husband, Gene Stewart; her son, Raymond Stewart; Two granddaughters: Peggy Sue Woodsmall and Rainie Sue Landers; her brother, Cleve Collier; and her brother-in-law, Aldwin Hudson.
