Winona Curtis

October 28, 1912 — April 16, 2005

Winona V. Curtis was born October 28, 1912 to Walter L. Berringer and Nellie A. Larsen in Clarinda, Iowa. She departed this life on April 16, 2005 at the age of 92 years. She was a member of Maple Grove church in Taylor County, Iowa. Winona was educated at Liggett School, west of New Market, Iowa.
On April 16, 1933 she married John Curtis. Two children blessed this union, John Dean in 1935; and Patsy Ann in 1938.
Winona enjoyed working beside John in farming, preparing lunches at their fishing pond, and flagged when he moved houses. The couple later moved to Clarinda, and Winona to Corning after Johns passing.
Winona loved flowers, gardening, and being with family and friends. Her life was enriched by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Winona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1972; son, John Dean in 1963; grandson, Perry Steeve in 2004; a sister, Leona Johnson, and brother-in-law Floyd Johnson.
Winona leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Patsy Steeve and husband Lyle of Corning, Iowa and sister-in-law, Marie Curtis of Tucumcari, New Mexico. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.
