Barbara Kordick

Barbara Jeanne Kordick was born on March 23, 1940 to Dorotha and John Bryan in Winterset, Iowa. She passed away on May 8, 2026 at Cass Health Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. Jeanne grew up on various acreages in Madison County with her siblings: Joe, Milly, Carol and Karla. Jeanne attended elementary school in Madison County and graduated from Truro High School in 1958. After graduating from high school, she worked at Bell Telephone in Des Moines, Iowa.

Jeanne was united in marriage to Wayne Kordick on June 17, 1961. From this union was born three children: Teresa Lynne, Kevin Wayne and Alan Lee. Jeanne was a loving and devoted mother and wife. After her children were older, she began working as a Cook in the Corning Community Schools where her husband was employed as the Vocational Agriculture teacher. Jeanne helped her husband by checking papers and attending FFA functions.

Jeanne was a skilled Seamstress who was always making clothing for her family. She had the talent to reupholster furniture and pickup seats, make curtains, blankets, and anything else that could be made with a sewing machine. You could often find her working on her sewing machine if you stopped by to visit. If she wasn’t working on a sewing project, you might find her making crafts as she was also a talented crafter. Jeanne often made crafts for local craft shows.

Grandma Jeanne loved her grandchildren- Kenzie, Tyler, Matthew, Daniel, Kenedee and Andrew, and was often helping out any way she could. Grandma and Grandpa hosted many family holidays which her family has very fond memories of. These were some of the best times in her life.

Surviving Jeanne are two children: Teresa (Doug) Kopp of Atlantic, Iowa; and Alan (Robyn) Kordick of Allen, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Juile Kordick of Boone, Iowa; her grandchildren: Kenzie, Tyler, Matthew, Daniel, Kenedee and Andrew. Jeanne is also survived by her sister, Milly (Dale) Sheldon of Meeteetse, Wyoming; her sister-in-law, Margaret Bryan of Osceola, Iowa; sisters and brother-in-law, Dean and Eileen Moore of Winterset, Iowa; Kathleen Kordick of Winterset, Iowa; along with several nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her son, Kevin; parents; her brother, Joe; sisters, Carol and Karla; father-in law; and her grandparents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning, Iowa. Fr. Dan Siepker, Celebrant. The family will receive friends prior to Mass from 9:30-10:30 at the church, with the Rosary at 10:30 AM. Jeanne will be laid to rest in Bridgewater, Iowa at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at 2 PM Wednesday.
