Barry Chubick, Sr.

Barry Keith Chubick Sr., Age 79, formerly of Creston, Iowa, passed away at Briar Place Nursing Home in Indian Head, Illinois on Saturday, July 25, 2026.  Barry was born on April 23, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Arthur Cecil Chubick and Theresa Hester LeRette.

Barry married Charlene Adkisson in the summer of 1963. Throughout his life, Barry worked hard to provide for his family and experienced many different careers and adventures along the way. In his early years, he delivered newspapers to surrounding communities of Creston. He also worked alongside his father at the family furniture store and later worked with his father-in-law building grain bins throughout Iowa and Illinois.

Barry eventually moved to Roseville, Illinois, where he worked for Gates in Galesburg and later for Caterpillar in Peoria. In the fall of 1979, Barry moved his family to Coolidge, Arizona, where he began a career as a prison guard at Florence Prison. While working, Barry also attended Central Arizona College, where he earned his GED. After many years of dedicated service, he retired from the prison.

Outside of work, Barry had many passions and talents. He loved playing pool, cooking, fishing, singing, playing his guitar, and recording music. Music was especially meaningful to him, and he enjoyed sharing his love of singing and guitar with others.

Barry was known for being friendly, kind, and always willing to help others. He never hesitated to lend a hand when someone needed it. Above all, his family was his greatest source of pride. He was incredibly proud of his children, grandchildren, and all of their accomplishments. His love for his family was evident in the joy he took in watching them grow and succeed.

Barry is survived by his three sons, Barry Chubick Jr. of Fort Dodge, IA, Frank Chubick of Coolidge, AZ, and Aaron Chubick of Maricopa, AZ; his daughter, Monica (husband Gregg) Hatter of Huntley, IL; sister-in-law Joan Chubick; 12 grandchildren, Kiya (Albert) Trujillo, Chessa Chubick, Ashlyn Schlapia, Justin Schlapia, Jacob Hatter, Braedon Hatter, Kylie Hatter, Brooklyn Hatter, Raiden Chubick, Draven Chubick, Gage Chubick, and Bo.D Chubick; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Cecil Chubick and Theresa Hester LeRette; six brothers, Art, Delbert, Wilbur, Marion, Jerry, and Franklyn; two sisters, Rosalyn Nash and Theresa Doreen Clark; and his granddaughter, Falisha Chubick.

Barry leaves behind a lifetime of memories, music, laughter, stories, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
