Betty Mae (Larkin) Lyden-Bouck
Betty Mae Bouck, the daughter of Alleyne L. “Speed” Larkin and Anna Laverne (McFarland) Larkin, was born October 7, 1936, in Red Oak, IA. Betty entered eternal rest on January 24, 2017, at Clearview Home, Clearfield, IA, at the age of eighty years, three months and seventeen days.
Betty received her education in the Red Oak Iowa Public Schools. She married Warren Lyden in 1952 and four boys were born to bless this union: Larry, David, Mike and Kent. Betty and Warren were later divorced. While raising her four boys, Betty worked in Shenandoah, Iowa as an Avon Representative, Welcome Wagon and Fashion 220 Lady. She was a Housewife and Homemaker, and also later worked for West Central Development.
Betty moved to Wyoming, near Casper, where she lived for nearly 25 years. It was there she met Donald Richard Bouck. They later married and together, they were managers of multiple housing properties. Betty was never idle, and was always a hard worker. Betty and Donald returned to Iowa in 2008.
Betty attended the Methodist Church in Shenandoah. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eagles Lodge. Betty was also a “garage sale” fanatic. Betty was able to talk to anyone and everyone and her favorite question was, “What Zodiac Sign are you?” She loved to cook and had accumulated thousands of cook books. Betty will be missed by many but never forgotten.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her husband: Donald Bouck, Diagonal, IA; her sons: Larry Lyden, Casper, WY; David Lyden (Wife Annette) Diagonal, IA; Mike Lyden, Omaha, NE; Ex daughter-in-law: Rhonda Lyden, Red Oak, IA; Betty’s grandchildren: Lynnsey Lyden (Significant Other Brian Harness), Omaha, NE; Delton Lyden (Spouse Ryan Fuller Lyden), Omaha, NE; Emily Dillon (Husband Cory), Omaha, NE; Stephanie Lyden (Fiance’ Steven Flynn), Chicago, Il; Ashley Lyden, Ventura, CA; Dustin Lyden, Des Moines, IA; a great-granddaughter: Brinley Dillon; Donald Bouck’s children: Tina Schild (Fiance’, James Branam), Dennis Bouck and Tammy Bouck; Betty’s step-grandchildren: Amanda Fredette, Brian Fredette, Jaslynn Schild, Shane, Kasey, Mike and Noah Bouck; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Preceding Betty in death were parents; her first husband, Warren Lyden; a son, Kent Lyden; a brother: Lowell Larkin; sister-in-law Mary Larkin; Betty’s step-father, John Hilding; a grandson, Alex Lyden; and step-son, Doug Bouck and his wife, Diane.
