Chad Blanchard, 44 of Corning, Iowa passed away at his home Sunday, August 11, 2024. Chad was cremated and no services are planned at this time. Chad’s remains will be buried in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, Iowa at a future date, to be determined by the family. Memorial contributions may be directed to Ourcq Post #117, Corning American Legion.
Chad Robert Blanchard was born February 15, 1980 in Creston, Iowa the son of Robert Charles and Carol Sue (Perrin) Blanchard. Chad was raised and educated in Creston until the family moved to Corning when Chad began the 8th grade. He graduated from Corning High School with the Class of 1999. Following graduation, Chad joined the Air National Guard and also worked for Precision Pulley in Corning for several years. He later worked for Cardinal Glass in Greenfield a short time. Chad’s National Guard Unit was called to Active Duty and served his country during Operation Desert Storm in Kuwait. When the Unit returned to civilian life, Chad worked for Wellman Dynamics in Creston. Chad would serve a 2nd term in the Army, serving in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. Chad was currently employed at OSI Inc. in Oakland, Iowa where he helped with the manufacturing process for food products.
In his life following the military, Chad had many interests including old military planes, especially the A10 Warthog, known as the Tank Buster. He was also an avid military history buff and wanted to visit all 4 of the Iowa Class Battleships: USS Missouri; USS Iowa; USS Wisconsin; and the USS New Jersey. Most of all, Chad loved spending time with his family anytime they could get together.
Chad was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; and an aunt, Clara Mae Perrin. Chad is survived by his brother, Chris Blanchard (wife, April Rose Aro) of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and his nephew, Gabriel Blanchard. He is also survived by 3 aunts: Ruth Perrin (Steve) of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Jackie Eatinger (Howard) of Paola, Kansas; and Amy Mattheis (Phil) of Prescott, Iowa; his uncle, Randy (Virginia) Perrin of Brooks, Iowa and by several cousins and many friends.
