Born on August 21, 1952, in Creston, Iowa, Christie was the daughter of Otis Filmore and Mary Hester (Robison) Brown. She graduated from Fontanelle High School with the Class of 1971. On July 24, 1971, Christie married Ronald Lynn Gillham in Greenfield, Iowa, and together they welcomed two daughters, Valerie and Lori.
Christie dedicated approximately 35 years of her life to her work at Wellman Dynamics, where she served diligently as a Weld Cleaner until a disability necessitated her retirement.
Above all, Christie was loving mother, but tough. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who took great pride in her family. She shared her passion for music through singing in the Kitchen Band and with the Southside Boosters. In her leisure time, Christie enjoyed quilting, crocheting, fishing, and maintaining her vegetable garden, where she preserved much of her produce. She also had a deep appreciation for nature, often watching hummingbirds and other birds from her deck.
Christie is survived by her daughters: Valerie Beebe (Darwin Eggert) of Lenox, Iowa; and Lori (Christian) Mullen of Prescott, Iowa; three grandchildren: Taylor Mullen, Tanner Mullen and Wyatt Beebe; her brother, James Brown of Corning, Iowa; her sister, Janice Fry of Creston, Iowa; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald in 2020; her parents; and several siblings including Cheryl Bird, Dennis Brown, Donald Brown, Otis Burdette Brown and Clara Ruth Newbrey.
Christie’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
