Colleen Bickford, 91, of Corning, Iowa passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Corning Specialty Care. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Corning, Iowa. Mr. Larry Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakland @ Quincy Cemetery, rural Corning, Iowa. Visitation with family receiving friends will be 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to either: Adams County 4H clubs &/or the Corning High Alumni Newsletter. Colleen Marie Moore, the daughter of Carl and Louise (Richie) Moore, was born on June 10, 1933, in Adams County, Iowa. She attended grade school in Adams and Taylor Counties and graduated from Corning High School in 1951. Colleen married Donald Bickford at the Methodist Church in Corning on March 9, 1952. In their early marriage they rented and farmed in Adams County, briefly lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, where Don received aviation mechanics training, then returned to the family farm north of Corning where they raised their three sons, Randall, David and Larry.
After her boys were in school, Colleen began working at The Clown restaurant, then at the Bank of Brooks, where she was employed for many years. She was a member of several organizations, a member of BPW, the Chamber of Commerce, and Rosannes Auxiliary. Colleen helped with the Cub Scouts and was a leader in Adams County Girls 4H. She enjoyed volunteering and played the piano at church.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; and her sons, Larry and Dave.
Survivors include her brother, Terry (Roxann) Moore; her sister, Linda Hughes; her son, Randy (Maggie) Bickford; grandchildren: Andy (Melissa) Bickford, Jessica Dietz, Michael Bickford, and Amy (Mike) Wierzbicki; and her great-grandchildren: Ella, Caleb, Benjamin and Andrew Wierzbicki.
The family wishes to extent our profound appreciation of the staff at Corning Specialty Care; to the physicians, nurses and staff at CHI Mercy Hospital and Care Initiatives Hospice.
