Dean Brant

August 21, 1939 — December 11, 2025

Creston, Iowa

Gordon “Dean” Brant was born August 21, 1939, in Osceola, Iowa, to William “Bill” Brant and Bernice (Carpenter)-Brant. Dean entered Eternal Rest and was reunited with his sons and parents on December 11, 2025.

Dean spent his youth on farms in the St. Charles and Truro areas. He graduated from Truro High School in 1957. While in high school, a pretty girl named, Twila Terry, moved from Texas to Truro and soon became his high school sweetheart. Dean and Twila were married March 8, 1958. To this union, four children were born; Terry (Deb) Brant, Sherri (Dave) Long, Tami (Kris) Adamson and Bill (Tawny) Brant.

Dean’s working career was spent as a farmer, a district manager for Moorman’s Feed Company, a salesman for FS and Growmark. He finished his career as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau in Creston for 37 years. Taking care of his clients was very important to him. His clients always came first and he very much enjoyed visiting with each one of them. Dean never wanted to retire. The Farm Bureau office was his happy place.

He was a very proud member of the Creston Lions Club. He served as the District Governor in 2015-2016. He was instrumental in bringing the Lions Kid Sight program to Creston, which Tami now uses in her daycare. For many years, Dean and Twila sponsored a balloon for the Creston Balloon Days. This event was a fan favorite for several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many friends and memories were made through these organizations.

Dean’s favorite hobby was woodworking. He was very proud of his shop and the projects he made for his family. He loved nothing better than going to an auction to find his next treasure. He spent many hours fixing and cleaning old toy tractors (especially red ones!), tools, and different pieces of furniture. He enjoyed helping his grandchildren and other family members with their various 4-H projects and school projects.

Dean’s greatest pride and joy were his 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. You could find him cheering them on at many events like wrestling meets, dance recitals, softball and baseball games, football games, plays, and music concerts.

Above all, Dean was a man of deep faith and was devoted to his church and family. He was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Creston, serving as an elder and a board member. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Twila; daughter, Sherri (Dave) Long; daughter, Tami (Kris) Adamson; daughters-in-law, Debbie Brant and Tawny Waske;10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dixie Murphy and Donna Martin; brother-in-law, Bob (Steph) Terry; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sons, Terry and Bill; his parents, Bill and Bernice Brant; his in-laws, Burdette and Eunice Terry; his brothers-in-law, Herschel Martin, Ed Murphy and Bill Terry. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn.
