Donald Dean Myers, son of William Arnold and June Irene (Ternahan) Myers, was born on July 1, 1957 in Corning, Iowa. Don entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his home in Corning at the age of fifty-six years, seven months and twenty four days.
Don attended Corning High School and graduated with the Class of 1976. Don continued on to Southwest Iowa Community College and earned an Associate’s Degree in Auto Body. Don also attended trucking school in Lamoni, Iowa. Don lived the majority of his life in Corning. He resided in Sharpsburg for eight years before returning to Corning.
Over the years, Don worked at Lazy Ike’s Fishing Lure Company and Drew’s Body Shop in Corning. Don also drove a semi, coast to coast, for Dwight Oglesbee at ERCI Trucking Company for six years.
Don’s passion in life was working on cars. His hobbies included coon hunting, fishing, collecting knives and Hot Wheels. Don was known to help anyone who needed it at any time. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and will be sorely missed by many.
Left to cherish Don’s memory are his children: William Myers, Dean Myers (significant other, Christy Camden) and Jennifer Myers, all of Corning, Iowa; five grandchildren: Eric Still, Audrina Myers, Ethan Myers, Ryan Myers and Maylei Myers; brother, Steve (Sandy) Myers of Overland Park, Kansas; sisters: Sandy Carpenter of Des Moines, Iowa and Julie (Brian) Matlage of Olathe, Kansas; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents and six aunts.
