He passed away on March 9, 2026, at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa. Ed's life was marked by his deep connection to both family and the land he cherished.
Ed grew up in a rural setting, receiving his education at local country schools before graduating from Creston High School with the Class of 1955. Upon returning to civilian life, Ed resumed his responsibilities on the family farm, where he became a great steward of the land. In 2001, Ed retired and moved to town. Even in retirement, he continued to work diligently, spending five years working full-time at the Gummy Bear factory. Ed later took on a role as a Greeter at Wal-Mart, where he enjoyed interacting with customers and making new friends.
