Floyd Mckinney, Jr.

March 12, 1962 — July 9, 2023

Floyd “Ken” McKinney, Jr. of Macksburg, Iowa passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday evening, July 9, 2023. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date and his ashes will be laid to rest in the Moon Cemetery. Floyd Kenneth McKinney, Jr. was born March 12, 1962 in Colorado, the son of Floyd Sr. and Carol Ann (Bailey) McKinney. Ken, as he was known, graduated from Orient-Macksburg High School with the Class of 1980 and then graduated from SWCC with a diploma for completing Electrician school. In 1983, Ken was united in marriage to Becky Sprunger and they were together 13 years until they divorced in 1986.


Ken worked at the Redfield Bridge & Tile Works in Redfield, Iowa for about 15 years. He also worked a

Short time for Hallets Materials near Pitzer, Iowa. He spent several years working in Creston at Gits Manufacturing until an auto accident made it so he could no longer work. Ken was a simple man who led a simple life. His pets were his kids and he enjoyed watching NASCAR, old TV shows and even cartoons. Ken was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone.


Ken is survived by his 4 brothers: Bob McKinney of Macksburg, Iowa; Todd McKinney of Des Moines, Iowa; Troy McKinney of Orient, Iowa and Wade (wife Kelly) McKinney of Winterset, Iowa. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.


Preceding Ken in death were his parents; grandparents; and 2 infant sisters: Donna and Sheila McKinney.
