Helen Geneve Murphy Sheets, the daughter of George Wesley and Daisie Rosetta (White) Fouch, was born on July 12, 1917 in Clarke County, Iowa on the family farm. Helen entered eternal rest on March 14, 2015 at Greater Regional Medical Center, Creston, Iowa at the age of ninety-seven years.
Helen attended rural school and graduated from Osceola High School with the Class of 1934. On May 6, 1946 she married Bernard Murphy at St. Malachy Church in Creston. Bernard passed away February 17, 1965. On September 30, 1966, she married Robert R. Sheets in Creston and Robert passed away August 19, 1977.
Helen was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, Daughters of America and St. Ann’s Society. She was also a member of Lady Elks, Eagles Auxiliary, Women’s Club and South Side Boosters Club. At one time Helen was a volunteer at the Creston Hospital Coffee and Gift Shop and also volunteered at the Rectory Re-Run Shop for twenty years. Helen enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several card clubs over the years.
Helen is survived by two step daughters: Brenda (husband Bradford) Miller, Waukee, IA; and Beverly (husband Reldon) Stamper, West Des Moines, IA; Eight step-grandchildren; Twenty Step-Great Grandchildren; Twelve Step Great-Great Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; Three Brothers: Chester, Arthur and Leland Fouche; and Three Sisters: Alice Baldwin, Darlene Ring, and Leola Mildred Schaffer.
