Helen Louise Haynes, was born in Creston, Iowa on March 1, 1923, the daughter of Earl Glen and Myrtle (Spires) Cline. Helen was raised and educated in Creston, graduating from Creston High School with the Class of 1941. Following graduation, she went to work at JC Penney Company as a Cashier and Bookkeeper. During her growing up years, Helen was involved with music, piano lessons, tap dancing lessons and recitals. In high school, Helen played the Tenor Saxophone and enjoyed Ballroom Dancing.
She was a proud resident of Myrtle Street for over 50 years.
Helen was united in marriage to Eldon Dale Haynes on September 15, 1947 at the First Christian Church. To this union, a son, Larry Eugene Haynes was born on September 7, 1948. Eldon preceded Helen in death on January 26, 1980, only 32 years after they were married. After Eldon’s death, Helen worked for the Creston school system as Title 1 teacher aide and later in the office of Creston Elementary Schools.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband; son, Larry Haynes in 2023; sister, Marie Spriggs in 1996; brother-in-law, Harold Spriggs in 1976; her parents and grandparents.
Helen is survived by her grandson, Mike (Laurie) Haynes of Creston, Iowa; great-granddaughter, Shelby Roberts of Corning, Iowa; niece, Susan (Halim) Spriggs of Vero Beach, Florida and a nephew, Martin Spriggs: great-nephew Chris Spriggs. She is also survived by her special loving and caring families: Craig, Linda, Aubrey, Garret & her “special boy”, Evan Taylor; Karen Dupuy; Rhonda, Gary, Amanda and Travis Gelhaye.
