Ivan Jeffery Allan J. J. James, the son of Ramona James and Jeffery McKinney, was born at Corning Rosary Hospital on March 19, 1987. He entered Eternal Rest on June 18, 2005 at the age of eighteen years, three months and one day.
J. J. was a member of 4-H Prescott Workers, Southwest Saddle Club and Redeemer Lutheran Church. He attended Prescott, Orient, Glenwood and Corning Schools. While attending Prescott and Orient schools he played baseball. He worked at New Fashion Pork at Nodaway, Iowa and helped the neighbors.
He liked basketball, four-wheeling, old cars and pick-ups, fishing, rodeos (especially the bulls) and riding horses. J. J. loved riding his horse, “Jewel” in barrels and poles and on trail rides. He enjoyed working on races cars and tearing apart pickups and repairing them. If trouble came, while putting them together again, here comes Chad and Jarad, maybe with friends too. First the horses, four-wheelers and the pickup, somewhere in between the girls came too. He was planning to attend college this fall to further his education in auto mechanics.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Merlin James.
He is survived by his mother, Ramona James of Corning, Iowa; father, Jeffery (Rita) McKinney of Glenwood, Iowa; brothers, Chad James of Nodaway, Iowa and Jarad James of Corning; sisters, Bethany Botkin of Corning, Iowa and Jessica McKinney of Glenwood, Iowa; grandparents, Margaret Ivan James of Corning, Iowa; Jean McKinney of Creston, Iowa; Larry McKinney of Kent, Iowa; great-grandparents, Florence James of Corning, Iowa, Gale Mary McKinney of Orient, Iowa.
He will be greatly missed by his family.
