Jack Gearld Osborne, 86, of Nevinville, Iowa passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026 at his home of 41 years. Jack was born September 10, 1939, the 2nd child born to Chester Clinton Osborne and Pauline (Bride) Osborne in Eddyville, Iowa. He lived through-out Eastern Iowa with his family until he moved to Colorado while in elementary school.
Jack started working at a young age to help support his parents and siblings by doing odd jobs. He and his sister then went on to live several years with his uncle George who taught him a highly versatile set of life skills. Jack could do about anything and had a huge level of common sense.
Jack went on to get married young. He worked at a steel mill in Colorado, started his family and then moved back to Iowa. He was faced with many tragedies and persevered through it all. He lost his first wife, daughter and son-in-law in an accident. He later married his second wife, Roberta and together they had one child and Jack gained three step children. He began working construction in the 1970’s. He never met a person he didn’t make an impact on. He lived mostly off the land and was very much a country man.
Jack could tell an endless number of stories. He played the Harmonica and traveled to attend a bluegrass festival every year. He was a family man and didn’t mince words. His sense of humor would leave you in tears. The legacy he leaves is never ending. His grandma was a huge impact on his life.
Survived by wife Roberta (Briley) Osborne of Nevinville, Iowa; daughters: Debra (Brian) Seals of Enterprise, Alabama; Jennifer (Jeff) Burns of Centerville, Iowa; Misty Sales of Marshalltown, Iowa; and Tonia Montoya of Marshalltown, Iowa; a son, Scott (Joann) Simpson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Jack is also survived by a brother, Doug Osborne of New Castle, Pennsylvania; and 2 sisters: Joanne Mulay of Corydon, Iowa and Donna Puglian of Pueblo, Colorado.
Preceding Jack in death were his parents; first wife, Delores; daughter and son-in-law, Julie (Bill) Roach; son Jack Osborne, Jr.; son, Brian Simpson and grandson, Justin seals.
Jack will be missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
