Joan Asbury, 91, of Creston passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Creston Specialty Care, Creston, Iowa. Graveside Services will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Evergreen Memorial Park, Omaha, NE. There will be no public viewing. Memorials may be directed to HCI Hospice House of Creston.
Joan Elizabeth Asbury, the daughter of Boyd Raymond and Harriett Margaretha (Jess) Hartsock, was born on January 20, 1926 in Fremont, Nebraska. Joan graduated from High School in Omaha, Nebraska. On April 28, 1973, she married George Howard Asbury in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Joan worked for twenty years as a Secretary for General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) while residing in Little Rock, AR and Omaha, NE. Joan has lived in Creston the last twenty years.
Left to cherish Joan’s memory are her sister-in-law, Linda L. Hartsock, Creston; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jane and Hap Michener, Ballwin, MO; and Dick and Shirley Hartsock, Lincoln, NE; her nephews and nieces: Jim and Kathy Hartsock and children: Tyler, Andrew and Patrick, Springhill, KS; Tim and Robyn Hartsock and children: Jess, Jake and Veka, Clinton, IA; Tom and Wendy Hartsock and children: Samuel and Sydney, Creston; JoAnn and Joey Valdivia and children: Matthew (wife Robyn) Valdivia, and Katie (husband Anthony) Aiello, Fresno, CA; Patty and Mike Stockdale and child: Chris Stockdale, Fresno, CA; and Ginger Plymesser and children: Chris (wife Missy) Plymesser and Kim (husband Mike) Ehrsam, Greenfield, IA.
Preceding Joan in death were her parents, Boyd and Harriett Hartsock; her husband, George, in 2011; two brothers: Jean and Jim Hartsock; and sister-in-law, Grace Mary Hartsock.
