John James Bielski, born on September 28, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on July 3, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He succumbed to cancer after a short battle, with his wife, Uralee by his side.
John was the youngest of seven siblings and grew up in a nurturing environment that laid the foundation for his quiet yet warm personality. The Bielski family moved to Creston, Iowa, in 1973, where John graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1979. In his early years, he was an active participant in Boy Scouts, showcasing his values of commitment and camaraderie.
Beginning in 1981, John embarked on a long and fulfilling career with Wellman Dynamics in Creston, where he worked diligently as the Lead Core Maker and was a proud member of the worker's union. His dedication to his job not only demonstrated his strong work ethic but also reinforced his connection to the community and the friendships he cultivated over the years.
John was united in marriage to Uralee L. Recoy on July 4, 1987, at the Cromwell church. He cherished his role as a husband and made countless memories with Uralee. Although they did not have children of their own, John’s love for his nieces and nephews was profound, treating them with affection as if they were his own.
He is survived by his wife, Uralee Bielski of Creston, Iowa; his sisters, Corinne Larsen of Chicago, Illinois, Georgette Walker of Windsor, Colorado, Linda (Dave) Collings of Orient, Iowa, Janet (Dave) Walter of Creston, Iowa; and his brother, Edward (Nelly) Bielski, Jr. of Austin, Texas. John is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and a multitude of friends who were touched by his kindness and gentle spirit.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Bielski; his in-laws, Harold and Mary Recoy; and a sister, Nancy Sweeney.
In tribute to John's life and legacy, visitation services will be held on July 10, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston, Iowa. A memorial service will take place on July 11, 2025, at 3:00 PM, also at the same location with Rev. Mary O’Riley Officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Creston Animal Rescue Effort in memory of John.
John’s quiet warmth and unwavering love for his family and friends will be cherished and remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
