Judy Thompson

Judy Thompson, 82 of Orange City, Iowa formerly of Corning, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 2 PM at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center with Pastor Rick Titus officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:30 - 1:30. Open visitation will be 2 - 6 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home, the family will not be present. Judith Jolene Thompson was born in Nodaway, Iowa, May 17, 1942, the only child born to Glen Gabriel and Margery Ellen (Olive) Wallace. Judy was raised in the Nodaway area and attended the Nodaway Schools. Judy graduated with the final class from Nodaway High School in 1959. A year later, on June 5, 1960, Judy was united in marriage to Gary Gene Thompson at the Presbyterian Church in Corning, Iowa. A son, Brent was born to bless their union.

Judy was a quiet, unassuming woman who diligently supported her family and business. She began working for Gary and his parents, Harry and Edna at Thompson Electric Co. and helped with the bookkeeping and many other duties as well. Later, the store became Radio Shack, owned by Gary and Judy and she continued in her office manager role doing whatever needed to be done. Judy later worked alongside Brent at Radio Shack in Creston. Judy and Gary wintered in Arizona for many years. Judy was a long-time member of the Presbyterian Church, Happy Hollow Country Club and various ladies card clubs. Gary preceded Judy in death in 2014 and Judy moved to Orange City, Iowa in 2019.

Left to cherish Judy’s memory is her son, Brent (wife Sally) Thompson of Orange City, Iowa; 2 grandchildren: Devin (wife Emily) Thompson of Leander, Texas and their daughter, Nora Thompson; and Blake Thompson of New York, New York. Preceding Judy in death were her parents and husband Gary.
