June Balius

June Balius, 69 of Creston, Iowa entered eternal rest Sunday, June 11, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family. No services are planned. June will be laid to rest in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton, Iowa at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Creston Animal Rescue Effort. June Marie Balius was born in Creston, Iowa June 13, 1953, the daughter of Clifford Dwight and Olga (Morales) Balius. June was raised and educated in Creston and attended SWCC where she earned her GED. Most of June’s adult life was spent working as a Caregiver to the elderly and the handicapped. June was a kind-hearted woman and the families of her patients had many fond memories of her over the years. She worked in Iowa before moving to South Carolina for 10 years and later in Mesa, Arizona for 20 years. June returned to Iowa in February 2018 to be closer to her family.

Preceding June in death were her parents; a grandson, Christopher Conley; and 4 brothers: Terry and Jerry Balius as infants; Dave Balius and Bob Balius.

June is survived by her daughter, Karen (Ron) Leonard of Creston; 3 grandchildren: Ashley (Rob) Kibbe, Rosetta Leonard and Willow Leonard, all of Creston, Iowa; 4 great-grandchildren: Jaden Conley, Jayleigh Hinds, Amara Kibbe and Noah Kibbe; June is also survived by 2 brothers: Jerry (Kathy) Balius and Charles Balius, both of Creston; a sister, Linda Balius of Creston; half-sister, Maria Spencer of Apache Junction, AZ; sister-in-law, Annette Balius of Maryville, MO; 2 nieces and 2 nephews. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

June was an animal lover, but was especially fond of the Dachshund, Frenchie and Chihuahua breeds. Most of all, June wanted to be near her family and loved spending time with all of them. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn.
