Kevin Lee Wynn, born June 23, 1952, in Corning, Iowa, died on November 9, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. He was the son of Woodrow Isiah Wynn and Dorothy Louise (Rhine) Wynn, and the youngest of four children.
Kevin’s childhood was a wonderful experience. He helped on the family farm and loved the farming life. 4-H played a huge role in his formative years as he showed livestock at the fair. He loved the Prescott school and community. When his parents were tragically killed in a car accident at age 12, his life changed dramatically. He found himself in the care of extended family, staying in the home of Lillian and Daleton Boswell until he graduated. Afterward, he made his home with the Ronnie and Sharon Walter family, and their home became his home base.
He was a proud Corning Red Raider, graduating with the class of 1970. Wrestling, football, Thespians, C-Club, and Hi-Y were among his extracurricular activities.
After high school, Kevin attended Peru State College and later returned home to Corning to farm. The 1980s farm crisis ended that venture, but fortunately, God already had a new plan in motion. Joe Cook took Kevin under his wing and became a father-like figure to him. Together, they cared for many families’ insurance needs. When Joe retired, Kevin opened the Kevin Wynn Insurance Agency, working in the business until his own retirement on January 1, 2025.
Always community-minded, Kevin served on the Adams County Board of Supervisors, SIRWA Board, SICOG Board, Friends of Prescott School Foundation, and as Quincy Township Clerk and Trustee. He was a member of Life Underwriters, ran for State Senate in 1996, and was a 50-year member of Circle Lodge No. 555 in Prescott and Za-Ga-Zig Shriners. He was also active in the Adams County Democrats and served on the board of the Happy Hollow Country Club.
A great source of daily support and fun for Kevin was coffee with the guys. It began at the Stemwinder with Harry and Mike Grundman, Joe Cook, and Kevin. Those mornings together were something he truly cherished.
Kevin loved golf, the Happy Hollow Country Club, red tractors, black cattle, the ISU Cyclones, the Yankees, his dogs and cats, his siblings, and his many nieces and nephews.
Kevin was married to Ellen Kearney, and they later divorced. Kevin found the love of his life when he met Joedy Eblen. They were married on January 8, 2011. He loved being called “Dad” by Brook and Josie, and “Grandpa” by Halle, Maya, Corbin, Mavis and Moira. His family life had, at last, come full circle.
Preceding Kevin in death were his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Ron Walter; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Jackie Wynn; his brother-in-law, Kevin Eblen; his best friend, Orlo “Mark” Olive; his niece, Jodi Walter; and four nephews: Joshua Foster, Matthew Wynn, Jamie Wynn, and Scott Krauth.
Left to cherish Kevin’s memory are his wife, Joedy Wynn of Corning; daughters: Brooklyn (Josh) Abel of Lorimor, Iowa, and Josie (Jeromy) Burgmaier of Creston, Iowa; five grandchildren: Halle and Corbin Burgmaier, and Maya, Mavis, and Moira Abel; his sister, Sandy (Gary) Krauth of Ankeny; his father and mother-in-law, Don and Carolyn Eblen of Creston, his sisters-in-law; Pam (Tim) Gray of Creston and Jacquie Eblen Herron of St. Marys, Kansas and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends including Donnie and Arlene Drennan and the entire Luther and Olive families. Kevin will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
