Larry Phillip Lenz, the son of Arthur Nicholas Lenz and Veta Mae (Landon) Lenz, was born in Cass County, near Grant, Iowa on January 23, 1937. Larry entered into eternal rest at Good Samaritan Center in Villisca, Iowa Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the age of 77 years and six months.
Larry attended Holt #5 country school in Taylor County and high school in Corning. In 1955 Larry was united in marriage to Bonnie Brownfield. To this union two daughters were born, Cindy and Connie. The couple later divorced. On February 7, 1958 Larry married Carol Jean Greenfield. To this union three daughters, Deborah, Diana and Kelly and one son Scot was born.
In Larry’s off time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards, sometimes well into the night with family and friends. Larry was a heavy equipment operator, many years with Barton Contruction. He drove a semi over the road for several years and worked in Montana a couple of years. Larry served his country through the National Guard and Army Reserves.
Left to cherish Larry’s memory are his daughters: Connie (Reed) Dowling of West Des Moines, IA; Deborah (Mark) Foster of Atchison, KS; Diana (Kurt) Scott of Corning, IA; Kelly (Frank) McMullen of Otoe, NE: son-in-law Dan Grause of Nevada, IA daughter-in-law Cheryl Damyonovich of Billings, MT: brothers: Paul Lenz of Ankeny, IA; Dennis (Kathy) Lenz of Atlantic, IA; David Lenz and significant other, Marla Namanny of Cumberland, IA; and a half-brother Roger Lenz of Atlanta, GA: sister, Donna Edwards of Corning, IA and a sister-in-law, Dixie Peterson of Ames, IA; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol Jean in 2008; son, Scot; daughter, Cindy Grause; brother, Dale Lenz; sister, Joan Wombacher; sister-in-law, Arleeta Lenz; brother-in-law, Steve Edwards.
