December 18, 1932 — June 22, 2012

Lucy A. Conley, 79, of rural Creston, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at her home. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 26, at Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston. Mr. Phil Price, Orient Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will be at the Graceland Cemetery, Creston. Open Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday, June 25. Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Greater Regional Hospice. Lucy A. Conley, the daughter of Hugh and Mamie Lee (Hutchcraft) Bishop, was born on December 18, 1932, near Simmons in Texas County, Missouri. Lucy lived in Missouri about eleven years in her early childhood. She lived in Newton, Iowa from 1943-1949 and has lived in the Creston area since about 1963. On April 22, 1967, she married Dean Conley in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Lucy worked at Wellman Dynamics as a coremaker. She also worked for Keesey’s Cleaners and Purolator, both in Creston; she worked as a C.N.A. for Creston Manor; and she worked as a cook for the Orient Schools.
Lucy was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles; the Creston Women’s Bowling Association; and the Rebekah Lodge in State Center, Iowa. She was a former member of the First United Presbyterian Church and became a member of the Orient Church of Christ in 2006. She enjoyed camping and traveling to National and State Bowling Tournaments. Lucy enjoyed vacationing with her family and was a great cook. She canned many different vegetables from her garden. Lucy took many trips with her sister and her daughters.
Left the cherish Lucy’s memory are her husband: Dean Conley, Creston; her children: Steve (Terri) Leonard, Trenton, MO; Kathy (Scott) Larson, Carson, IA; Raymond (Nancy) Leonard, Evening Shade, AR; Tim (Viv) Leonard, Creston; and Kristie (Doug) Davidson, Orient; Seventeen Grandchildren; Twenty-two Great-Grandchildren; her brothers: Roger (Thelma) Bishop, Topeka, KS; and Sparky Bishop, Bridge City, TX; her sister: Zelda Lundberg, Newton, IA; her sister-in-law: Betty Leonard, O’Neill, NE; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Preceding Lucy in death were her parents: Hugh and Mamie Bishop; her brothers: Cecil, Danny and Coy Bishop; her sister: Wanda Wohlwend; her sons: Michael Leonard and Coy Shane Leonard; and her granddaughter, Heather Leonard.
