Margaret "Marie" Krings

Margaret “Marie” Krings, 93 of Creston, Iowa peacefully passed away in her home on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 surrounded by her family. A visitation with the family receiving friends will be Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 10 AM – 12 Noon at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 809 W. Montgomery Street, Creston, Iowa. A private inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be directed to Gibson Memorial Library or Creston Arts Center. Marie was born to Keith and Dorothy Pugmire on June 21, 1929, in Wisconsin where she spent her childhood and early years with her family and beloved sister, Jane. She and Donald Krings met when he showed up at her front door, as a stand-in for his brother. It was meant to be and together they had 8 beautiful children and were married for 47 years when Don passed. An artist at heart, our memories of Mom are filled with her painting everything in sight, sewing, knitting and crocheting, her love of gardening and stained glass. GG was a restaurateur, made the best Italian beef sandwiches and always had room in her heart for one more to love. Her years spent as caregiver for Don, prior to his death, exemplified the love she had for him. She was a huge fan of the Rerun and loved spending time with her “Stitch & Bitch” club and her golfing friends. Her wonderful sense of humor and boundless energy along with her “it’s 4:00 p.m. somewhere” Blue Moon will always bring a family smile.

She continues to be deeply loved by her children, Paula Krings & husband, Rick Zingher; Carol Krings & husband, Mark Hayes; Kathryn (Kay) Krings; Laura Krings; Mary Downing & husband, Rich; Jennie Bowe & husband, Jim; Mark Krings & wife, Juleen; and Donald Krings & wife, Lyndsay. Their legacy continues with 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Krings, parents, Keith and Dorothy Pugmire, and her sister, Jane Richardson.
