Michael Allen Hendrix, known to many simply as Mike, passed away peacefully at his home in Creston, Iowa on April 6, 2026. Born on September 10, 1958, in Sikeston, Missouri, Mike lived a life marked by dedication to his family, career, and passions. Family will receive friends Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 4:00PM – 6:00PM at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center. Memorial may be directed to the family. Memories may be shared online at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.

Mike graduated with the Class of 1976 from Poplar Bluff Senior High in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He furthered his education at Three Rivers Community College, earning an Associate’s Degree, and continued his studies in Accounting and Marketing at Southeast Missouri University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

In 1983, Mike married Carla Elaine Vance in Arkansas. Though their marriage later ended in divorce, they remained connected as co-parents to their two sons. Mike moved to Iowa in 1994, initially working briefly at Bunn-o-matic. The following year, he began a longstanding career with HyVee, where he served as the Market Manager in the meat department, a role in which he took much pride.

Mike was an enthusiastic sports fan with a special love for the Miami Hurricanes. He also cherished rooting for the Kansas University Jayhawks, often playfully rivaling his son Kyle over the North Carolina Tarheels. His loyalty extended to professional sports as well, where he followed the New York Yankees in baseball and the New York Rangers in hockey with great passion.

He is survived by his sons: Kyle Hendrix of Dallas Center, Iowa, and James Mobley of West Des Moines, Iowa, along with James’s wife, Megan, and their two children, Cillian and Marin Mobley, who were cherished grandchildren. Mike’s sister, Ann Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, and his aunt, Peggy Wommel of Cleveland, Ohio, also survive him. His ex-wife and mother of his children, Carla (Greg) Dodd of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, continues to be part of his family legacy.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy (Bone) Hendrix-Johnson, and step-father, Gene Johnson.

Mike’s life was one of hardworking commitment, affectionate family ties, and joyful enthusiasm for the sports he loved. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
